Jakarta – Markis Kido, pria kelahiran Jakarta 11 Agustus 1984 adalah sang legenda pebulu Tangkis Indonesia yang baru saja tutup usia akibat mengalami serangan jantung di salah satu Rumah Sakit di Tangerang.

Nama besar Markis Kido, diawali dari karirnya bermain Badminton sejak tahun 2000 yang menyabet emas bersama pasangannya, Liliana Natsir, dalam Ganda Campuran di kejuaraan Dunia Junior Asia.

Kemudian Pada tahun 2005, Markis Kido bersama Hendra Setiawan dua kali berhasil meraih emas dalam Kejuaraan Asia di India dan Pesta Olahraga Asia Tenggara di Filipina.

Lalu pada 2006, Markis Kido – Hendra Setiawan yang menjadi pasangan ganda andalan Indonesia ini kembali memberikan emas untuk tanah air dari Piala Dunia Badminton di Tiongkok.

Selanjutnya tahun 2007, pasangan ganda tersebut lagi-lagi menggondol emas dari kejuaran dunia Super Series BWF di Malaysia, Tiongkok, dan Hongkong, serta Pekan Olahraga Asia Tenggara di Thailand.

Tahun 2008, pasangan Markis Kido dan Hendra Setiawan terus percaya diri hingga akhirnya mampu menjadi juara pada Kejuaraan Olimpiade, BWF Malaysia, China Masters, Denmark Terbuka, Perancis Terbuka, dan membawa pulang emas untuk Indonesia.

Tidak berhenti sampai di situ, pasangan ganda putra itu terus meraih emas pada tahun 2009 dalam kejuaraan Asia di Korea Selatan, Pesta Olahraga Asia Tenggara di Laos, BWF Jepang Terbuka dan Perancis Terbuka.

Masuk tahun 2010, nama Markis Kido – Hendra Setiawan belum hilang, ia masih mampu menyumbang emas untuk Indonesia dari Pesta Olahraga Asia di Tiongkok.

Terakhir, raihan emas untuk Indonesia kembali didapatkan Markis Kido – Hendra Setiawan lewat BWF Singapura Terbuka tahun 2012 dan Perancis Terbuka pada 2013.
